Ages & Numbers

We run group sessions for 8 – 18 children for a cupcake decorating party at our Chelmsford shop or any suitable number at your home or venue (see below). Numbers depend on the children’s ages and number of staff available.  The content of the cake classes will be adapted to age and ability, we provide ready baked cupcakes for younger children, only older children can bake their own on the party for safety reasons with our mixing equipment.

Timings & Format

Party length and activities can be adapted to suit as per the above, however a typical format for parties at our shop lasting 1.5 hours (or 1 hour 45 minutes if you choose to add the food option – see ‘Food & Drink’) is below:

– arrive / welcome drink

– presentation box per child of 6 ready-made cupcakes (or choose to bake in the class for older children/teens for which each child will have 4 cupcakes each)

– decoration / flower making / icing modelling

– colouring & flavouring choice of icings

– piping in different styles

– applying decorations
– finishing touches, sprinkles & sparkles

Pricing

Parties are a set price of £250 for up to 8 children and further children can be added for a discounted rate of £20 per child. This includes all pre-prepared cakes, use of all tools and equipment, aprons and boxes and bags to transport home - no need to bring anything! Soft drinks are also included and food can be purchased for an additional cost (see below)

Parking & Travel

The Riverside Retail Park immediately next door to our estate offers 3 hours free parking (camera monitored) which would cover the duration of your party. Alternatively there are several pay and display car parks within a short walk. On Sundays and evenings you may park on the single yellow lines on the road our shop is on. We kindly ask that you do not park in our limited staff and customer collection bays out the front of the store when attending a party.

Party At Home?

Your venue must have a sink facilities and be able to accommodate all of your guests seated at a table. We will bring all equipment, cakes, icings, tools etc for use at the party, plus patisserie bags and boxes for your guests to transport the cakes away in at the end. Travel is charged, please supply a post code on enquiry and loading/parking information - we bring a lot of gear! 

Food & Drink

We provide unlimited soft drinks for the children whilst they are with us. We can also provide a lunch bag with a sandwich, fruit snack, biscuits, and crisps for an extra £5 per child which is eaten at the end of the session. Please discuss options with us on booking if you would like to add this. Alternatively we are very close to the town centre and there are eateries nearby such as McDonalds on the retail park right next door or the new bond street restaurants just a few minutes walk away if you would like to take the group for food afterwards. (Please note only food purchased from us can be consumed at the party, which will add an extra 15 minutes to your time with us.)

How To Book...

Please Contact Us to book your party. We take a £95 deposit to secure a date for your party and will require you to give us an approx number of attendees at the time of booking with the balance due the week before your party. (Our availability is limited and constantly changing therefore early booking is highly recommended! Due to the large number of enquiries for a limited number of dates we are unable to hold dates until you are ready to leave a deposit.)

Terms & Conditions

A £95 deposit is required to secure the date for your party. When you book a party with us we will often turn down other customers who enquire about bookings on the same date therefore deposits are non refundable under any circumstances and cannot be transferred to other courses or dates. We recommend leaving your deposit as soon as possible as dates are not held on enquiries until this deposit is received. You may decrease or increase your attendee numbers after booking but not by not more than 4 people below the original number of attendees given at the time of booking. This number must not fall below 8 people in total. Increases in numbers may be possible but availability varies depending on staff and venue capacity so please call us with number increases as soon as possible. The balance of your party will be due in the week before the party, we will get in touch with you to confirm your final numbers. We kindly ask that guests do not arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time as we may be holding another event or need to close the shop to set up for your own event. Similarly we may have another party after you so late arrivals will need to join the class at the point at which they arrive and we regret we are unable to repeat course content due to lateness. There is a 10 minute grace period to wait for late attendees after which the course will commence with the attendees that have arrived. We provide tea, coffee, soft drinks  free of charge as part of all our parties which are self service on the course. Only food and drink purchased from us may be consumed on the premises for childrens parties and adding the food option to your party will add an extra 15 minutes to your time with us.)

Dietary requirements – we can provide dairy free and egg free icings and cupcakes, there is a surcharge of £5 per child for this. Please contact us to discuss allergies if adding the party food option at the end of the party.

Hen parties or friend groups, a cupcake decorating party is a great idea for a fun activity out of the norm. Everything you need is provided from use of tools and equipment, boxes and bags to transport your cakes, aprons, and unlimited soft refreshments. Other cake classes are also available just ask for more info.

Hen Parties

Pass the time at our lovely bakery and shop where we’ll keep the bubby flowing whilst showing you all how to make gorgeous cakes that are tasty too. Alternatively let us come to you! We travel to some local counties with our mobile parties either in your own home or party venue.
