Rainbow Drip Cake Tutorial

You can’t get brighter than this! A real crowd pleaser cake that you can make alone or get the kids involved too. Learn how to create an impressive rainbow stripe buttercream inside and striped rainbow outside, topped with edible clouds, a fun 3D rainbow model and finished off with the hugely popular drip effect. Equipment Required

  • 6″ diameter round cake layers x 4 (bake your own recipe or check out the Perfect Sponges Tutorial to learn Eloise’s)
  • 6″ diameter round cake board or card
  • Presentation board (around 10″)
  • Cake turntable (helpful but not essential)
  • Palette knife 9″ cranked blade
  • Cake Scraper
  • Around 1kg buttercream icing (I’ll tell you the amounts to colour in the video! Not sure how to make it? Check out the Best Buttercream Tutorial)
  • Piping bags
  • Round hole piping nozzle (around 1cm diameter hole)
  • Paste colourings in 6 rainbow colours
  • Modelling paste – 6 rainbow colours, 10-15g of each
  • 200g White fondant (sugarpaste) icing
  • 75g chocolate or candy melts or similar product
  • Edible glue and brush to apply
  • A little cornflour or icing sugar
  • Sprinkles (optional)
